Dartford Orienteers invite you to a Regional event with ranking points in this varied parkland. Guidance on what to do will be available both in advance and on the day.

We are offering a range of Line courses and a 60 minute Score course so there's a course suitable for all ages and levels of experience.

There's also a cafe and toilets near to our event centre.

Courses

Yellow 2.0km
Controls (checkpoints) are very easy to find, mostly on paths, ideal for younger children and complete beginners.

Orange 3.0km
Controls are on or near paths with some route choice. Good for progressing juniors and adults who are reasonably confident reading a map.

Red 4.0km
Controls are very easy to find, mostly on paths, ideal for runners who are new to orienteering wanting a longer run than the Yellow course with a low navigational challenge.

Green 4.5km
Short Green and Green are suitable for those with some orienteering experience.

Brown 9.0km
Blue and Brown are as technical as we an make them for experienced orienteers

All distances on the above Line courses are estimated at present, measured in straight lines so you will cover more distance than these on your walk or run

60 mins Score
Find as many controls as you can in any order within the time limit of 60 minutes. 10 points per control and a 5 point penalty per minute or part of a minute for exceeding the allocated time.


Competitors on the Yellow, Orange, Green and Blue courses will score KOL points in the normal way. The Brown course will have a spectator control adjacent to the finish for the other courses. The first part of the Brown course is the same as the Blue course. Competitors on Brown will score KOL points based upon their time to complete the Blue section of the course. Competitors on the Red and Short Green courses will not be eligible for KOL points.

Entries after 5th January depend on map availability and will be subject to a £2 surcharge for Seniors.

Newcomers are most welcome. if you are a newcomer to orienteering and have not participated in one of our events before,just click here for quick and easy sign-up j and pay just £2 (cash or card accepted) on the morning of the event. We will be in touch in the week before to tell you all you need to know.

Groups participating together (one entry, one map and includes chip hire)
Entry Fee: £10 at all entry dates

For a group, only one person needs to enter but after the surname please type "+2" say to indicate that this is a group of three people participating together. One map will be issued to the group but extra maps can be provided on request to the organiser in advance at £1 each if there are still maps available for that course.

Juniors are under 21 on 31st December 2025.

Event Information

Safety
You must not attend if you or a member of your household has COVID-19 symptoms.

You must adhere to the British Orienteering Participant Code of Conduct.

Map
Maps will be at 1:5,000 for Yellow, Orange and Short Green. The map scale will be 1:7,500 for all other courses. All maps will be printed on waterproof paper.

These two short videos will hopefully give you a good idea of what you will be doing Videos.

Start
The start will be about 100m walk from the Event Centre. Follow the red and white tapes. It is a punching start for everyone.

Control descriptions
Control descriptions are printed on the map. Loose control descriptions will be available in the start lanes at the event. These are helpful if you want to avoid keep unfolding your map to check the control code is correct at each control visited.

Finish and Download
It is a Punching Finish for everyone. After finishing, please proceed directly to Download. Download will be by the competitor. Your splits print out will be handed to you. Hired SI dibbers should then be deposited in a pink container nearby.

Results
Results will not be on display at the event but you can access them on the DFOK website after the event www.dfok.co.uk. We hope to be able to show live results using a QR code on your map which can be accessed using your mobile phone.
